Editor:
The Cold War Veterans Association is pleased and proud to announce that on June 20,2007 Governor Baldacci signed bill LD111.
This marks May 1 of every year as “Cold War Victory Day.” While other states have declared May 1 on a year-to-year basis, Maine and Virginia are the only states that have created this day in perpetuity. While it is not a state holiday, it is a day to pause and reflect, remember and honor all the veterans who served during the Cold War, from Sept. 1945 to Dec 1991.
We veterans all thank the Legislature and Governor for this tribute to those who served to protect our Great Country.
