Casework Corner

* Mr. Jenkins was a retiree from the U.S. Air Force, with over twenty years of service, who had been receiving Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits for many years. In 2004, after receiving both military retirement pay and VA disability compensation, it was determined that he was entitled to Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). Yet, Mr. Jenkins continued to receive an incorrect amount in benefits. He contacted the Office of Senator Martinez for assistance.

A caseworker from Senator Martinez’s staff contacted both DFAS and the VA and was informed that upon review, a calculation error had occurred and Mr. Jenkins was entitled to a retroactive payment for the four years in question. A check was released to him following the discovery.

If you have questions about a federal agency, please contact the Orlando Regional Office by calling (407) 254-2573 to speak with a member of the Casework Department. The toll-free number for Florida residents is (866) 630-7106. To find out more about how my Office can help you, go to http://martinez.senate.gov or stop by one of our scheduled Community Office Hours in your area.
