IAVA : Restrepo nominated for an Academy Award

Dear Sean,

We have some great news to share.

'Restrepo', the powerful documentary about Battle Company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, has been nominated for an Academy Award. IAVA is a longstanding partner on the film. From our national screening tour in 2010 to spreading the word to our members and supporters, we've been proud to be a part of 'Restrepo' from the very beginning.

'Restrepo' follows one platoon throughout their deployment to Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. SSG Sal Giunta was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions displayed during the deployment chronicled. The film bridges the civilian-military divide by presenting the realities of life for troops both in the war zone and when they return home.

In case you missed it the first time around, 'Restrepo' is making an encore showing on the National Geographic Channel on Wednesday, February 2nd at 8 p.m. EST.

Check out the trailer, watch the movie on NatGeo and tell your friends and family to do the same.

Instead of tuning in to American Idol tomorrow night, let's make sure that the country tunes in to see real American heroes.

Together, let's root for 'Restrepo' at the Oscars later this month and show Battle Company that we've got their back.

Best,

Paul
